SpiderOak is free software, but also has a subscription service to upgrade to 100+GB storage (fee option monthly or yearly). Upon account activation, several GBs of storage are allocated to you for use. It is a cloud based service of backup, file sync and collaborative sharing online. Client-side software works with Windows, Mac, and most Linux versions. SpiderOak is a one-stop shop for storage, file sharing, file sync’g, remote access, and backups online. Local drives, network drives, USB, externals, DVD, CD, and any other storage media can be used for the backups. SpiderOak encrypts stored and transferred data, securing it with SSL connection. Permissions must be granted by the data’s owner before SpiderOak will share / allow collaboration with any of your files.
